IPAC Certificate Authority

The IPAC Certificate Authority (IPAC-CA) digitally signs IPAC host/server certificates that are needed to enable secure transactions with IPAC servers. Trusting any Certificate Authority is a matter of choice but having chosen to do so means you trust all host certificates signed by that authority. The IPAC-CA signs certificates only for sites or servers that are under the direct control of the Infrared Processing and Analysis Center and its directly affiliated organizations. Domains currently include: IPAC.CalTech.Edu, Spitzer.CalTech.Edu, MSC.CalTech.Edu, NED.IPAC.CalTech.Edu

Disclaimer: Host certificates are signed in good faith to certify the identity of IPAC web servers using information provided by IPAC engineering and management. IPAC and the California Institute of Technology assume no liability for the services provided or the management of security on those web servers.

If you require a certificate for a system at IPAC - you should follow the instructions for presenting a certificate signing request contained in the IPAC Certificate Authority Standard Practice document.

The IPAC-CA currently has 2 root certificates in use.
   Root-2 (Serial Number 2) Expires 2021.
Root-1 (Serial Number 1) Expires 2016; no longer used for signing.
Root-0 (Serial Number 0) Expires 2008; no longer used for signing.
